Kintyre is the bottom half of the peninsula it shares with Knapdale. This is a view over Campbeltown from Beinn Ghuilean. On the horizon at right is Arran. The present chief's ancestors were farmers at Carrine in the Mull of Kintyre and at Lagalgarve in the 18th century. They were merchants and soldiers in Campbeltown in the early 19th century.
